Kid Rock or “Robert James Ritchie” was born in Romeo, Michigan in January of 1971. His music is a probing mix of various genres like rap, rapcore, hip hop and country music as well. His first album “Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast” with songs like “Pimp of the Nation” and “Yo-Da-Lin in the Valley” was a mix of hardcore rhymes and old school rap. He followed up releasing “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp” under his own Top Dog Records label. This album marked his venture into west coast G-funk sound, although varied to some extent by his usual rock influences. As this self distributed venture was a success, he went on to get a distribution deal with Atlantic Records for his next project.

In 1998, Kid Rock released “Devil Without a Cause” in partnership with Uncle Kracker and Twisted Brown Trucker. This album contained hits like “Only God Knows Why”, “Cowboy” and “Bawitdaba”. Although the album did not do well initially, after meeting MTV VJ Carson Daly, Rock was able to make several appearances on the TV network, which ultimately helped in improving sales by a long way. In time, the album sold more than 11 million copies, launching Kid Rock as a big name in music business.

Since then, Kid Rock has released several hits. In 2000, his collection album “The History of Rock” sold more than two million copies in US alone. He went on to release another hit “Cocky” in 2001. His latest was “Rock N Roll Jesus” in 2007, which got a double platinum certification and also a number one charting on the Billboard 200.
