Leonard Norman Cohen is a celebrated singer, songwriter, poet and Novelist from Canada. Born on September 21, 1934 in Quebec, he got his first book of poetry published in 1956 in Montreal and his first novel in 1963. He was born in a Jewish middle class family and attended Herzliah High School where he had studied with the poet Irving Layton.
