Annie premiered at the Goodspeed Opera House on August 10, 1976. The musical is based upon the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray. The beautiful music of Annie is composed by Charles Strouse with lyrics by Martin Charnin. It is a heartfelt story about an eleven year-old orphan girl Annie, who tries to find her parents and about a billionaire businessman called Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, who wants to adopt her. Annie has won seven Tony Awards on Broadway. The musical spawned a number of productions in several countries. Its songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life” have become Annie fan favorites.
